As the spring baseball season kicks off, it’s time to look at the Eagle High Mustangs. The team has been around since 1995, and every year, they aim to be better. The team in the recent past has done well, winning the district championship in 2024 and placing in 2025, but this year their hopes are higher and looking towards State.
So far, the team has started off the year with a 10-3 record, being number one in their conference and ranked sixth in Idaho. Though they are doing well, the team still has expectations that coaches push for.
“The expectations are a State Championship. We are also pushed to do the little things right and not to have yourself put before the team,” senior pitcher Zach Ricks said.
Players so far this season have been playing efficiently with senior outfielder Brayden Lame leading the team in batting average, senior in fielder and outfielder, Kristian Fusco leading on base percentage and stolen bases, and senior pitcher, Carson Bowers leading pitching in lowest earned runs.
Other notable star players are Dallin Snooks known for his hitting, Caleb Zawadzki known for pitching and Zack Ricks also known for pitching, but each player on this team is key and useful in every aspect.
As the season continues, the team is locked in and not taking time off, with practices every day for three to four hours of hard work. It shows the team currently on a winning streak and not planning on slowing down anytime soon. The team is being held to high expectations throughout the season, even being given a team preview for the season.
According to Max Prep, “The Eagle Mustangs Baseball team is expected to perform well this year, with a strong roster returning from last season… with a very competitive pitching staff led by returning talent, establishes itself among the top teams in Idaho.”
With the season continuing, they have games all through April with the regular season ending on the 23, then having playoffs. The team is hopeful and believes they have what it takes to win it all keeping team spirit and chemistry up at all times.
