As graduation approaches, many Eagle High seniors are making plans for life after high school. For senior Joey Younes, that next step includes studying abroad and experiencing life in a new country.
Younes said he is planning to study abroad in Spain, where he hopes to immerse himself in a different culture. One of the main reasons Younes chose to study abroad is the opportunity to experience something new and step outside of his comfort zone.
“It’s a cool experience to live in a different country for a while,” he said.
Younes added that he is especially excited about being able to experience Spain’s culture firsthand.
“I’m most excited to experience a new culture,” he said.
Although moving to another country can be a big adjustment, Younes said he isn’t too worried about it.
“I’m a little nervous, but not really,” he said.
Younes plans to study abroad for about a semester, giving him time to explore and adapt while still focusing on his education.
“Probably like a semester,” he said.
Younes said the reason why he chose Spain over other locations was because the country stood out to him because of its culture.
“It just seems like a pretty cool place to go,” he said. “I like the culture.”
As he prepares for this new chapter, Younes represents a growing number of students interested in studying abroad and gaining experiences beyond the classroom.
