As spring and summer approach, Hollywood is on the lookout for their new hottest movies of the season. Plenty of heavy hitters are stepping up to bat.
With May quickly approaching, many big movies are either about to hit or are waiting in the wings of this smashing summer season. With everything from A24’s new horror movie based on the internet liminal space [a liminal space is a place where something seems off, but to the average person, they could not tell you a reason why. E.G.: Coming out of a movie theater late at night] horror, “The Backrooms”, and Christopher Nolan’s take on “The Odessey”, there is plenty to see in the upcoming months.
Across May and June, there are many movies to look forward to as theaters across America show movies like “The Devil Wears Prada 2” coming May 1, “Mortal Kombat 2” coming May 8, “Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu” coming May 22 and “Disclosure Day” coming June 12.
The plot of Stephen Speilburg’s new movie, “Disclosure Day”, is being kept top secret. According to www.imdb.com when it comes to the plot overview of the movie, “If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you?” The movie is a Sci-Fi thriller and is releasing on June 12. Special note about that date, in 1959, the UK house of Lords addressed inquiries about the possibility of extraterrestrial life. In pop culture, this is often referred to as the first ‘disclosure’ date of sci-fi events.
In contrast, “Mortal Kombat 2” is a second installment in the live action adaptation of the classic street fighter videogame of the same name that released back in 1993. It follows the same set of playable characters from the last movie, as they are pitted against each other in order to defeat the dark ruler Shao Kahn. The movie is highly anticipated, as the first movie made 84.4 million dollars in the global box office back in 2021.
This summer is jam-packed with interesting and exciting movies. Movie-goers and students alike are in for a treat as the weather warms.
