Principal Susan McInerney impacts Eagle highly tremendously, and her dedication to students and positive impact on the school community shows when she talks to students.
McInerney began her career as a principal fresh out of high school. The very first principal she ever had encouraged her and her husband to become principals too. McInerney and her husband got their admin degrees together.
McInerney graduated from University of Idaho, where she got her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and specialist degrees. She ran track while in college as well.
Before McInerney became a principal, she was a teacher for seven years. She taught history and speech and debate. She taught these at Centennial High before she came to Eagle High.
This is McInerney’s 33rd year in the district. She has been a principal for 26 years. She became a principal at Eagle High in 2020 after leaving Heritage Middle.
“I have been a principal for about 26 years now, and I look forward to coming into work every day,” McInerney said.
One of McInerney’s favorite parts about being a principal is being around all the students at Eagle High and speaking to them. She said she enjoys hearing about their lives when they come to her to talk.
“I love hanging out with the students and talking to them very much,” McInerney said.
McInerney also loves her family so much. She has two kids who are very successful in their careers. One is a teacher in the district at Rocky High, and the other is a sports marketer in Texas. Along with her kids, she also loves her pets. She has a Persian cat named Poppy, and a labradoodle named Griswold.
McInerney is a good principal according to the students, and this shows through her strong work drive that she continues each day.
