As winter continues with little to no snowfall, many students are wondering whether snow will arrive at all this season. Warmer temperatures and rain have replaced what is usually a snowy time of year, leading to differing opinions on whether this odd weather is a good thing or not.
Some people are enjoying the snowless winter, arguing that it offers ease of travel.
“I like it without snow,” said junior Ambree Marlett. She explained that cold weather and snowy roads make it difficult for her to get around in the winter.
“I hate being cold, and I can’t drive in the snow,” Marlett said. Because of the warmer temperatures, she does not think it will snow this winter. Instead of going outdoors to enjoy the snow, she spends her winter watching movies at home, indoor ice skating and making cookies.
Junior Milly Mitchell also prefers a winter without snow.
“I love warm weather,” Mitchell said. “Being cold makes me sad and not want to do anything.” While she is unsure if snow will still come this season, she has found ways to enjoy winter without it. Mitchell spends time with friends, goes on walks while bundled up and cooks dinner.
Others, however, are hoping for some snow. Freshman Cade Kelly said winter feels incomplete without it.
“I want snow so I can go snowboarding and make snow angels,” Kelly said. He believes snow will eventually arrive since temperatures have been dropping. Until then, Kelly has fun by hot tubbing, winter camping and hiking.
With winter nearly halfway through, opinions remain divided. While some enjoy the warmer, snowless conditions, others continue to wait for snowfall. Whether snow arrives or not, people are finding different ways to make the most of the winter season.
