Senior Sunrise is a tradition where the senior class gets together to watch the sunrise and mark the beginning of their year. This year, Senior Sunrise marked the beginning of the school year for the soon to be graduating class of 2026. The event was planned spontaneously. With no organization or endorsements being made by Eagle High, some students in the senior class took it into their own hands and planned it themselves. Senior Sunrise was on Aug. 16, 2025.
The senior class met up at Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park at 6:00 a.m. Students converged to set their senior years into motion and to see their friends. As the sun rose, seniors made lasting memories with their peers, took photos and reflected on the years of schooling that led them to that day.
“Senior sunrise was kind of put together last second, but it was definitely memorable and brought the class together,” said senior Mary Richardson. “I got to become better friends with people I have known for four years but maybe never got to know them as well as I would have liked.”
This year, Senior Sunset is planned to be held May 13. It will start at 8:00 p.m. This will mark the end of high school for these students. Senior Sunset is a symbolic event, organized by the students to remember the years they have spent at Eagle High and say goodbye to their friends.
“It makes me sad to say goodbye to this school, but I am grateful for the time I got to spend here and the memories I have made,” said senior Curtis Hansen. “Senior sunset is going to be really sad but also really fun.”
Senior Sunset is sure to be a symbolic closure for the class of 2026. For these seniors, it is the ending of one chapter and the beginning of another.
