As the second semester progresses, Eagle High students are starting to get tired of the same routine and are all looking forward to a week of freedom: Spring Break. The break has a lot of controversy and different opinions on whether it is long enough or is it too early in the year.
“I think spring break should be longer because second semester tends to be harder than first and us students need a break before we go into the stress of SATs, testing, graduation and finals,” said junior Ambree Marlett.
The stress of state testing and choosing next year’s classes weighs heavy on students, and a longer break might be what they need to recharge and prepare themselves for the big testing days.
“I think spring break should be longer, because it’s a very long stretch between Christmas break and spring break and I believe that we deserve two weeks,” said junior Cole Weber.

Not only is there stress from tests and upcoming events, but also the two-week Christmas break was months ago, and students are in need of another long break.
Another controversial aspect of spring break is the timing. Some students believe that March is too early, while others believe that it is perfect timing.
“I think spring break is too early because the stretch between spring break and summer is a very long and tiring part of the year and if we pushed it back it would make things more bearable,” Weber said.
If spring break was later in the year, then summer break would feel like it was closer and would give more hope to students and give them something to look forward to.
“I think it’s at a good time because its right before finals and if it was any earlier it would still be cold and you couldn’t do any outside activities,” Marlett said “Also, if it was later in the year, it would be too close to summer break, so I think it’s at the perfect time,”
Overall, the students of Eagle High seem to all agree that spring break should be longer, but the timing of when break should be is still something that is debatable.
