Every graduating class has its own personality, and the seniors of Eagle High’s 2026 Newspaper staff have made it clear that their high school years were defined by unforgettable moments, unexpected chaos and the kinds of stories that will be retold long after they leave the building. From parking lot dance parties to championship wins to the simple joys of being with friends, each senior shared a memory that captured what these four years meant to them.
For many students, the big school events were the heart of their high school experience. Senior Sophie Swanson did not hesitate to say what stood out most.
“Honestly, probably the school dances,” she said. “They were always fun and chaotic in the best way.”
That same chaotic energy was exactly what senior Azriel Bennett remembered when she brought up one of the class’s most iconic stories. During Homecoming sophomore year, the fire alarm was pulled, and instead of ending the dance, the DJ hauled a speaker outside and students kept dancing in the parking lot for nearly 40 minutes under the cold night sky.
Athletes in the class reflected on the moments that defined their competitive years. Senior Brielle Dahlgren said her favorite memory was, “winning State for dance,” a moment that represented years of hard work and dedication. Senior Ozzie Faulk shared that senior sunrise was especially meaningful because it brought him closer to his friends at the very beginning of their final year. He added that, “being an athlete and getting to compete,” shaped much of his time at Eagle High.
Seniors Caleb Zawadzki and Dallin Snooks agreed that winning the baseball District Championship in their sophomore year was the highlight they will carry with them.
Not all memories were polished or picture perfect. Some were unforgettable simply because of the chaos.
Senior Elizabeth Artyukhov laughed as she remembered, “the first time I got caught skipping class freshman year by Kevin [Scord]. I got in so much trouble.”
Senior Tommy Stone shared a story that sounded like something straight out of a movie. While driving back from lunch junior year, she had to swerve around deer in the road.
“A water bottle flew across the car and chipped my friend’s tooth,” she said. “It was awful but definitely memorable.” Her friend, senior Claire Rasmussen said her favorite memories came from football games, Dutch Bros Rebels and getting ready with her friends before big events.
As graduation approaches, seniors are also looking ahead to what comes next. Some are eager for a fresh start like senior Kate Vorbobieff who said she is most excited about, “not coming back to Eagle High ever again,” a feeling senior Paisley Miller agreed with.
Others are looking forward to new beginnings. Senior Sarah Kemp said she is excited to start college. Senior Mallory Halloran said she is ready to be more independent after high school. Senior Payton Keller shared a similar outlook, and said she hopes to attend BSU and is excited to become more independent as she starts the next chapter of her life.
For many in the Newspaper class, the people made the biggest impact. Senior Madi Bodine said the social aspect meant the most to her.
“I met a lot of people, and it was always fun,” Bodine said.
Eagle High’s Newspaper teacher Kate Lester reflected on the year as well and shared how much this group meant to her.
“It’s been a great year. I have so many amazing seniors and I’m going to miss every single one of them. I appreciate their hard work, dedication and the energy they brought to the class,” she said. She also offered advice for their futures.
“Be true to yourself,” Lester said. “Go after what you want even if it’s not what others expect from you.”
The class of 2026 Newspaper staff has shown that high school is not defined by perfect moments. It is defined by chaos, victories, friendships and the stories that will stay with them long after they walk across the stage, stories they will carry into whatever comes next.
