Every year here at Eagle High, seniors see a glimpse into their future during signing day. Here, a ceremony is held for family and friends to witness their students committing to playing a sport at their chosen school. It is held twice a year, one for early commitments and the second for any more decisions made.
Senior Rebecca Gabriel has committed to playing soccer at West Point Military Academy. The school is located in West Point, New York and is the oldest military academy in the United States, established in 1802.
“They saw me play at a tournament and emailed me to ask if I could visit them at a camp,” said Gabriel. “I went in the summer and played for two days, and they gave me the offer.”
She says that she has always wanted to do a college sport, especially soccer, because of the hard-working and focused culture.
“Some things I love about soccer is all the people I’ve been able to meet and the relationships I’ve made from it,” Gabriel said.
The Eagle High girls soccer team ranks seventh in the state of Idaho and will continue to support Gabriel on her journey.
Senior Ellie McManigal has chosen to commit to Colorado State University for softball. It is located in Fort Collins, Colorado and was first established as an agricultural school in 1870. Ellie has played softball for most of her life and has created a strong bond with her teammates.

“It’s very mentally challenging because you fail more than you succeed,” McManigal said when asked what she loves about her sport.
“I went to a camp at Colorado State. They asked me to send them my tournament schedule and came to watch my games,” said McManigal. A representative came to watch her play and evaluate her skills.
“I called them after, and they gave me an offer.” She is excited to see where this offer will take her after graduating.
It is always exciting to follow the journeys of Eagle High athletes after graduating. Each person involved in sports such as coaches, athletes, sports med students, parents, can be credited with helping seniors get onto the right path. Eagle High wishes those who’ve signed and those who will in the spring luck next year at their chosen schools.
