“It’s a tradition to go to Florida, because my family lives there. We like getting away during cold holidays,” said junior Kyleigh Plaisted. “On Thanksgiving Day, we go on boats and watch the sunset after eating dinner.” Many students will not only be able to enjoy the company of their family on this community-driven holiday but will soak in the last couple moments of sun and warmth before coming back to Idaho as fall shifts into winter.
The East and West coast are very popular spots for Eagle High students going on vacation, especially this year.
“We are going to Santa Cruz and staying with my cousins,” said senior Jack Giorgetti. The break from school allows students to connect with their family by spending quality time experiencing the activities their relatives like to fill their time with. Additionally, students are able to enjoy activities that aren’t available in Idaho, coming home with unique stories to tell their friends.
Although traveling is quite common for most students during Thanksgiving, some students are staying home and enjoying their time here for the holiday.
“I’m excited to see my brothers. They are visiting from Arizona and Utah,” said junior Sam Palfreyman. Making the most of staying in Idaho, some families opt to be the host of the festivities. Plans like playing a friendly game of basketball or tuning in to college football serve as their entertainment.
Fun is guaranteed, no matter if students are staying in town for Thanksgiving break or going elsewhere. This holiday brings families together and enwraps students with love, activities and food, which is exactly what they need before returning to school.
