Traveling is, as many claim, one of the most enjoyable ways to visit a place, and many like to do it over the holidays. There is another side to this, however.
“Traveling is exciting, but also many people get tired and homesick so quick, and it’s only fun for a couple days because be home for the holidays is just cozy,” said junior Grace Rawlins.
One can get more downtime when they decide to spend the holidays at home, which translates to more time for lounging around and catching up on sleep. Many Eagle High students would prefer to relax and feel at ease in their own homes and spend the holidays in their comfort.
“For me, it’s just fun to stay home and have some family time, and I love being able to watch the snow fall from my window while drinking hot chocolate,” Rawlins said. “It’s hard to do Christmas in another place, having to bring presents with you that take up more room.”
Still, people who choose to travel have the chance to discover what they enjoy in new ways. Holiday travel is a fantastic way to get away from it all and also it can be a beneficial addition to one’s physical and mental well-being, as everyday routines and professional lives with their demanding schedules, deadlines and high standards often leave one feeling stressed and exhausted.
“I enjoy visiting new locations every time I can,” said sophomore Catherine Chaves. “It is exciting being able to observe, experience and learn about new things I’m not used to.”
Some prefer to stay home and rest during Christmas break. However, traveling is also a great way to make memories and establish new traditions over the holidays.
