Prepare to get into the Thanksgiving festivities. Stores have been decorated with Thanksgiving decor for weeks but are soon going to be taken down for the 2023 Christmas season.

Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays for people all across America. It is a time for family and loved ones to come together and appreciate all they are thankful for and focus on what matters most in life. People who celebrate the holiday have some Thanksgiving staple food and some unique items as well.

The most common food is turkey. Families all across the country eat turkey on Thanksgiving. Often times, turkey is the main course for families. According to the Federal Department of Agriculture, there were 46 million turkeys eaten on Thanksgiving the year of 2022.

One unique food that is starting to be eaten more on Thanksgiving is macaroni and cheese. Macaroni and cheese is not necessarily what one may think of when thinking of Thanksgiving, but it is a great food to share with others.

“I love having mac and cheese at thanksgiving,” said junior Nathan Dutchover.

“We make a special recipe with my grandparents, and it is always everyone’s favorite food.” said Dutchover.

Some families also make numerous side dishes. This can be anything from mashed potatoes to bread stuffing. Some families would say the best side is stuffing whereas others would say something like macaroni salad. Thanksgiving is full of variety.

Some families also like to make other meats like ham. Some will cook their own, while others will get it from places such as Honey Baked Ham.

No matter what is being eaten, make sure to enjoy the holiday season with loved ones. Don’t take the time for granted. These will be memories to look back on someday.
