It has been five years since the artist Baby Keem released a new album, but on Feb. 20, he dropped his newest album, Ca$ino. The album was highly anticipated by fans and critics with some on the release loving it and others thinking it fell short of expectations.
According to billboard.com, “The album Ca$ino has received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. Some praise the album for its melodic sound and production quality, while others feel that it fell short in depth and storytelling.”
There were a total of 11 songs with special features from artists Kendrick Lamar, Too Short, Momo Boyd and Che Ecru. All these artists are high level and respected throughout the rap community.
The album for Keem was a different sound for him. In the songs, he goes into some of his family troubles, childhood trauma and his mother’s addictions.
According to Complex.com, “The album puts that darkness in the center. In some ways, this is Keem’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. It’s full of stories mostly, personal, detailing the struggles within his family and the trials and tribulations he’s been through.”
“It’s easily the most intimate project of his career, and because of that, it doesn’t frontline some of the Keem-isms we’ve grown accustomed to,” Keem said to Complex.com
When the album was released, Keem had a concert for it in California, hyping up the crowd for an already exciting event, even getting surprised guests by Too short and Momo Boyd.
Keem also announced, with the album, his newest tour which will be taking place from April 15 all the way to Sep.18 going all the way from across America, to Europe and across the United Kingdom. Tickets have been on sale since Feb. 13, and fans are quickly buying them.
After five years, although the album’s meaning was sad, Keem still produced music that has been greatly reviewed so far by fans and critics that gets his fans excited.
