Finding the perfect prom dress can be very stressful for girls at Eagle High. Many places can be too expensive or have dress styles that everyone else will want to wear. Eagle High’s prom is May 2, with a creative theme: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, so searching for the perfect dress starts now.
In the Boise area, there are a couple places to look for dresses in-person. One of the most popular among these options is Windsor at Boise Town Square. It has an array of styles, patterns and colors to choose from. It does get extremely busy during prom season, so it is better to start looking earlier when there is a better selection to choose from.
“I like Windsor because it’s in person and I like to see the dress on and see how it fits before I buy it,” said junior Kyleigh Plaisted.
For many girls it is important to try on a dress and make sure it has a perfect fit and look. This can be smart before spending money on a prom dress they might not like.
Another option for girls who are stressed about where to shop is to go online and find a dress. The internet has a multitude of online websites to search through. Some of these websites include Kiss Prom, Prom Girl, Lucy in the Sky, Polly Boutique, Peppermayo and Reformation.
“I like shopping on Peppermayo and Reformation because they are affordable, good quality and have lots of styles to choose from,” said senior Meredith Judge.
These brands are always putting out new dress designs that match up with the recent trends.
The 2026 trends for prom dresses, according to promgirl.com, include patterns like animal prints, florals and polka dots, as well as bows, ruffles, corsets, cut-outs and beaded dresses.
These recent dress trends can be very extravagant, but some girls at Eagle High like to keep it more traditional.
“I really like that some of the old styles are coming back into trend, like simple, timeless silk dresses,” Judge said, “Because I usually tend to stick to neutral and simple patterns.”
Prom dress shopping can be intimidating, especially when the event is approaching soon, but Eagle High students shouldn’t worry because there are so many places to look and so many options available, in-person or online.
Judge wants all the girls to remember, “it’s not about the dress, it’s about the experience and the people you’re with.”
While it may take some searching, the perfect prom dress is achievable for every girl. These shops and websites are a great place to start looking for one if the task seems overwhelming.
