The busy routine of students often makes it easy to pay less attention to the creativity that students can bring beyond the classroom. Between homework, classes and extracurriculars, many talents often go unnoticed. One very talented student, junior Taylor Earl, is no exception.
Earl has had a deep love for art his whole life, but the last two years are when he really dove deeper into his passion.
“I have been passionate about art for around two years now,” Earl said. For him, art is not just a fun hobby; it has now become a huge part of his life. He uses art to not only have fun and create things but also to express himself and show emotion through his work.
“I love art because it allows me to be creative and show the world through my eyes,” Earl said.
Earl also said his favorite forms of art include line art and watercolor. He feels most confident working with cubism and non-realistic styles of art. This helps him to break off from reality and really get in tune with his art pieces.
In his future, Earl plans on continuing to take more art classes to help him improve his skills so he can strengthen his few weaknesses such as painting with acrylics. He also would like to learn more about the human body and how it works and moves to be able to draw it more accurately.
Although Earl is passionate about art, he believes that it would be unrealistic to rely on it for an actual career moving forward since he says it’s likely that it won’t get him enough money.
“I want to pursue art in the future, but I’m not sure if it would be a reliable job,” he said. He plans to keep it as a hobby for now but would never be opposed to taking it into the work field.
“If artwork were at the doorsteps of success, I would gladly step through those doors,” Earl said.
Earl is a reminder that a student can be overlooked, when in reality, they have great talent that no one would know unless asked.
