Ask almost any fan of the NFL about this year, and they’ll say nothing is consistent. As teams near the end of the season, that’s where things get interesting.
All the teams this year have been the subject of one quip or another. The Kansas City Chiefs, the fan favorite for the playoffs, have a 6-8 record and got eliminated from the playoffs by the Los Angeles Chargers. Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers, a team that has been notorious for poor performance, are first in the NFC South with an 8-9 record as of Dec. 16 of last year.
Teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears are at the top or second place of their respective divisions. Meanwhile, teams that used to be average in terms of stats, like the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions and the Tennessee Titans are clawing their way up from bottom of the division.

According to nytimes.com, “The Pittsburgh Steelers will get an extra day of rest after holding on to beat the Baltimore Ravens 26-24 and win the AFC North in the final game of the regular season. They will host a Monday night showdown on Jan. 12 against the Houston Texans to close out the wild-card round. That was the last playoff matchup to be finalized.”
Superbowl LX takes place on Feb. 8, 2026. These playoffs are tense compared to past games, and no one source can say that one team or another is truly going to be the winner for the Superbowl this year.
This Superbowl is shaping up to be one of the biggest in recent memory, and whoever is playing this year, it’s going to be an interesting day for NFL fans.
