New Year’s Eve is a holiday that majority of people look forward to annually. It brings promises of new beginnings, goals and fresh starts going into the up-and-coming year. Students enjoy celebrating in a variety of ways that introduce their new self and memories to come, all the while honoring the fun year they had.
While some opt for a more laid-back New Year’s celebration, others go all out with planned trips and dinners.
“My best friend and I went to New York for New Year’s Eve,” said senior Makenna Martin. “We didn’t want to be in the massive crowd, so we went to a restaurant 10 blocks down which we had to get a reservation for in advance.” Martin celebrated in true New Years fashion: a fancy dinner in none other than America’s most well-known destination for the holiday.
Although she had an extravagant night, even students that stayed close to home New Year’s Eve had fun.
“This New Year’s, I was with my friends Jack, Jesse and AJ,” said senior Cole Gonser. Like many students, he simply spent the night with his closest buddies enjoying the company and a later curfew.
The holiday not only allows Eagle High students to enjoy New Year’s Eve, but also students in other states, highlighting an opportunity for friends and family from around the US to fly in for celebration.
“I would have to say this New Year’s was my favorite because my cousin flew in from California,” said junior Anthony DeVito. DeVito rang in the New Year with the best of both worlds: family and friends.
Whether it’s traveling and dinner, friends and fun, or even just family and the TV broadcast of the ball drop, New Year’s Eve was a night to remember for all Eagle High students.
