The winter months can be hard to endure, but the lighting of Christmas trees can bring the holiday spirit. Families and friends gathered in downtown Eagle, Idaho on Dec.3 to celebrate the annual Christmas tree lighting. The event took place near City Hall and marked the start of the holiday season for many of the city’s residents. People arrived early to enjoy the festive atmosphere and spend time together.
Children enjoyed hot cocoa, holiday treats and visits with Santa. Christmas music played as people anticipated the big moment. When the tree was finally lit, bright lights filled the area and the crowd cheered. Many people took pictures and shared the moment with their families.
The Eagle Christmas tree lighting is an annual tradition, one that has been going on for more than a decade. Bringing the community together for the event people have the chance to celebrate the holidays, enjoy the season and make lasting memories with friends and loved ones.
“I love to look at the lights. It is so fun to do with my family and brings us close together in the holidays,” said freshman Ace Miller.
The annual tradition brings the community together to sing carols and view the lights.
“The tree is really cool to look at, it is huge. We have gone a few times, it’s a fun activity,” Miller said.
The tree is gifted from Cascade, Idaho and stands 45-feet tall and is decorated with more than 5,000 lights. It is a major attraction for local families and tourists alike.
The tree lighting is a beautiful way to recognize the spirit ad traditions of the holiday. The tree standing in the center of Boise and stands as a reminder of the season and the community that comes together because of it.
