Families all around the world are embracing holiday traditions and making new memories. This season is a fun time for most people and brings out their jolly spirits.
Students around Eagle High love expressing their winter happiness through fun events. They go to the Caldwell lights, or the Garden City Idaho Botanical Garden lights, driving through the bright colors. The Garden City lights cost $35 per car, and the Caldwell lights are free.
Another fun holiday tradition is to go ice skating. This activity could be fun for all ages and a good bonding experience for families. At the Village in Meridian, it costs $7 to ice skate.
“I love going ice skating with my dad and all of my brothers in the winter,” said junior Brooklyn Masonheimer.
Some people’s traditions are not just going out and doing something outside. Some love to stay home baking with their family and decorating the Christmas tree. This is a very special experience for some and brings comfort in homes.
“I love making sugar cookies with my mom and giving them to the people we love,” said senior Payton Wolf. “One of my other favorite traditions is decorating the Christmas tree.”
A big holiday tradition according to the community in Boise is the potato drop. This happens in Downtown Boise on Dec. 31 each year. People gather around the Capitol building and watch the 1,500-pound potato drop. This symbolizes the new year that is coming.
“I watch the potato drop every year with my friends and family and it is such a fun experience,” said junior Riley Davis.
Different people have different activities they love to do, and people enjoy trying all kinds of traditions.
