As the Eagle High mustangs had a great victory at their senior night game against Borah Highschool, players are very happy about the win and hope to keep playing well throughout the remainder of the 2025-2026 football season.
Although the night of Oct. 17th was a bittersweet moment for the graduating class of 2026 Mustangs as they know their last high school football season is coming to an end, many great plays were made. Senior Linebacker Anthony Butler highlighted that his favorite play was when Senior Linebacker Aiden Payne got in the game.
“My highlight of the game was when Payne got a tackle for loss,” Butler said. “The whole team got hyped up for him on the sideline after we saw it.”

Junior running back and linebacker Luke Mikita, although not a senior said that the best part of the game for him was the win.
“Winning the game was great but seeing our seniors go undefeated in the regular season of their last year was definitely the best part,” Mikita said.
Going undefeated the entirety of the regular season is not an easy task, and although the Mustangs lost their district championship game against Timberline on Oct. 24th, they still plan to finish the season on a good note.
Butler claimed that the key to have a successful rest of the season is to continue to do what the Mustangs have been doing all season.
“We need to keep our heads up whether we win or lose and continue to work hard,” Butler said. “Trusting in our coaches will also play a huge role in our success.”

Similarly, Mikita said that if the Mustangs continue to play with the theme they have developed over the course of the games, then there is expected to be a positive outcome.
“If we just play our game how we have been, we shouldn’t run into any issues,” Mikita said.
If the Mustangs do prevail and make it to the state championship, however, players have high expectations for the game. Mikita said that if the Mustangs keep working hard, the journey training for the state championship will be harder than the championship itself.
“I think the state game will be an easier matchup than we will have in playoffs,” said Mikita. “And if we don’t make mistakes, we should win.”
If games continue to go as planned for the Mustangs and they continue to stay focused, work hard and trust in their coaches, the ending to the 2025-2026 season should end in their favor.
