There is a sport that goes all through the year; this would be the UFC. The UFC stands for Ultimate Fighting Championship and is a league dedicated to mixed martial arts. There are 12 weight classes, eight for men and four for women. In each division, there is a champion and a top fifteen and typically fighters will fight two to three times a year. Fight news is given out by CEO Dana White monthly with new updates.
The latest fight news that White has given out was for UFC 323, with the main event being Merab Dvalishvili defending his title against Petr Yan in the Bantam weight division. The co-main event will be in Alexandre Pantoja defending his title against up and comer Joshua Van in the flyweight division. Fan Paxton Besonem has an idea of how he thinks these matchups will go.
“For Yan vs. Merab I’m excited to see Yan’s striking against Merab’s wrestling, and for Pantoja vs. Van I’m excited to see how Pantoja’s jiujitsu is versus Van’s striking” Besonem said.
Dvaslishvili has been on a reign of terror winning 14 fights straight, while having three title defenses and is set for his fourth. This would be his fourth fight of the year and would set him to break the record for most title defenses in a year. Dvaslishvili also has the most takedowns in the UFC set at 117. Yan, though, is not an easy opponent; he’s on a three-fight win streak and is coming back with anger as this is the second time these two will fight.
In their first fight Dvaslishvili won via decision using his wrestling and cardio skills, but people think there is a way for Yan to win this fight.
According to Agent MMA, “Yan, with his switch stance and striking accuracy, will look to adjust his strategy to counter Dvalishvili’s grappling dominance.”
Another important fight coming up is UFC 322 with the headline being Jack Della Madelina fighting Islam Machachev for the welter weight championship. UFC fans think this might be the biggest fight of the year with former lightweight champion Machachev trying to become a two-division champion and Madelina trying to insert himself as a true champion.
UFC fans are excited for this fight because if Machachev wins, it would put him in a small group of athletes that have won two belts. Fans are also excited because of the matchup; Madelina and Machachev both have similar fighting styles.
According to MMA Fighting, “It pits JDMs superior striking and takedown defense against Makhachevs elite grappling and all-round MMA game.”
Both UFC 323 and 322 should both be amazing fight cards and crazy fights that will have fans on the edges of their seats. UFC 323 will take place on Dec.6, and UFC 322 will take place on Nov.15. People can watch these fights on paper view or at local bars, and fight fans can’t wait for it.
