As the season progresses, so do the holidays with Thanksgiving approaching, and the students could not be more excited. Old time traditions and creative new ones are where the excitement stems from. Family activities like playing pickleball, running in a turkey trot, playing football, making Thanksgiving dishes and gathering around the table for the holiday meal are classic traditions. Family is at the heart of this holiday, celebrating life in this country, but what seems to be favored is the food.
“My favorite part of Thanksgiving would have to be my family’s tradition of making homemade pies,” said senior Isabella Thompson.
Different families have different traditions when it comes to the food, a common one being baking a variety of pies. Baking pies brings families together by making a mess in the kitchen and bonding over flavors that bring the fall spirit.
“I am most excited for the cherry pie and pumpkin pie, they are my favorite,” said Thompson.
Along with the pies, there are other activities to expect, such as family football and turkey trots.
“I can’t wait to get together with my extended family and play football while waiting on the Thanksgiving food, it gets me in the spirit,” said freshman Ace Miller.
The actives and food creates the perfect balance between touchdowns and taste buds.
The Thanksgiving dinner is a famous meal, families gathering around to eat good food and make memories that will last a life time. Many students get together with their extended families to enjoy the dinner.
“Every year one side of our family gathers together, but we switch sides every other year,” said Miller. “It’s a good way to see them and gives me something to look forward to.”
Students are excited for the upcoming holiday, waiting for these amazing traditions and treats.
