Eagle High’s National Honor Society is putting on a fun benefits event to kick off spring that is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a nice springtime Saturday and support a good cause simultaneously.
There is a chapter of NHS at Eagle High who performs many acts of community service throughout the valley. This event is giving the club’s members an opportunity to impact the community by both serving and planning an event to raise money for the American Cancer Society, specifically for breast cancer awareness.
“The Eagle High chapter of NHS is hosting a spring kickoff on April 18, raising money for the American Cancer Society,” said Junior Aidan Marshall “There will be yard games, live music, face painting, a scavenger hunt, a photo booth and food.”
This event will officially take place on April 18 at the field behind the baseball stadium at Eagle High from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.
Breast cancer affects many people within the Treasure Valley and Idaho as well as across the country and the world. These students are very passionate about making a difference and raising money to help spread awareness and give support to those in need of treatment and care.
“The purpose of our event is to come together as a community to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer,” said junior Haylie Chilcoat. “This cause is close to our hearts, as some of us, including me, have seen loved ones battle breast cancer and we know firsthand how much impact it can have on families and communities.”
Many NHS students are passionate about this cause, along with other students, teachers and staff at Eagle High. Unfortunately, many people have witnessed loved ones struggle from cancer. To make a difference, money must be raised and awareness must be spread; NHS recognizes this, which is why they are putting on an event to raise money and spread awareness for the battle against breast cancer.
This event will be both fun and family-friendly while also supporting a great cause. It will feature games and entertainment for the whole family. It is a fun Saturday event for families and people of all ages throughout Eagle and the Treasure Valley. By purchasing food, raffle tickets and more, money will be raised that will go towards the American Cancer Society.
“The funds we raised will support vital breast cancer research and awareness programs, helping to advance treatments, provide education and offer hope to those affected by this disease,” Chilcoat said.
NHS students are hopeful about their event and are excited to be able to support this cause.
