Everyone experiences the surreal feeling of seeing a celebrity crush for the first time. Whether it’s on a screen, magazine or a music video, a celebrity crush can vary depending on professions, attractions and interests. Celebrity crushes are very common amongst the youth, especially here at Eagle High. But having a celebrity crush is not just admiring from afar. It also can be seen as looking up to that special someone.
Celebrity crushes are normally just harmless daydreams of teenagers. Many teens get inspired by their celebrity crush based on their interests and personalities. These crushes can create a sense of comfort and enjoyment among youth, especially when there is a shared interest or hobby. Typically, celebrity crushes are well known actors/actresses that are in tv shows or movies that are popular among the age groups of 13 and older according to “What age do crushes start? – Resto NYC.” Common celebrity crushes can even be found amongst the students of Eagle high.
Famous actors such as Jacob Elordi, Hayden Christensen and Tom Cruise are a constant main topic in the hallways of Eagle High. Sophomore Katie Vickery shared her opinion of celebrity crushes.
“My celebrity crush is Jacob Elordi and Hayden Christensen. They’re tall, brunette and attractive,” she said.
Many students have similar celebrity crushes based on personality, professions and looks. Both Elordi and Christensen are famous for their acting. Elordi starred in popular films such as “Wuthering Heights”, “The Kissing Booth”, “Euphoria” and “Frankenstein”. As for Christensen, he has been a successful actor since the early 2000’s with starring roles such as the “Star Wars Trilogy”, “Shattered Glass”, “Goosebumps” and more.
Senior May Merriman explained her relationship with celebrity crushes and how she views them.
“2006 Andy Sandberg is just the vibe,” said Merriman. “He has the glasses, the curly hair, the smirk”. This popular 2000s actor is most known for his role in the popular tv show “Saturday Night Live”. Sandburg has also voice-acted in various movies including “The Storks”, “Zootopia 2”, the “Hotel Transylvania trilogy” and much more.
But the hot topic is not only about actors, but actresses such as Megan Fox, Madelyn Cline, Mekenna Grace, Sabrina Carpenter and Jenna Ortega have been popular as well.
“My celebrity crush is Megan Fox from the “Transformers” movie because she likes Cameros and is a great actress,” said sophomore Leo Bergschneider as he told who his celebrity crush was since he was eight years old.
Many teens tend to share the same attractions towards the same celebrities. This is mainly due to their influence in the media, considering more teenagers are on social media in the current age. However, having a celebrity crush is more phycological than anything else due to teenagers having a brighter imagination and more admiration. The lack of “maturity” makes it so teenagers are more prone to having intense crushes on celebrities.
Overall, some may say having a celebrity crush is a general part of growing up and maturing, while others look at it has a hysteric fantasy that can lead down an unhealthy path of obsession and admiration. Regardless, celebrity crushes will always be a main topic in high school hallways.
