The twentieth anniversary of the Hannah Montana franchise celebrates two decades since its first debut. Fans get to relive the magic of the show, while pop culture lets nostalgia seep through.
The show started in 2006. The story was that an ordinary girl, named Miley Stewart (played by Miley Cyrus), got to live a double life as a pop star named Hannah Montana. She threw a wig on with glamorous clothes and got to live ‘the best of both worlds.’ The Disney series was added to pop culture in the late 2000s.
“She showed me the power of following my dreams,” said senior Anna Petzinger about Hannah Montana. “If she could be a pop star and an ordinary girl, then there was no limit to what I could do.”
According to Invisiverse.com, “The character of Hannah Montana became synonymous with the idea of achieving dreams while navigating personal challenges.”
Miley Cyrus dropped more songs showing herself and showing Hannah Montana, creating soundtracks and sold-out concerts, not just for her, but for the show too.
Post-show Miley Cyrus then started to embrace a solo career with albums away from Hannah Montana, taking a step back from the cultural phenomenon that was her alternate self.
Now, with the anniversary debut coming, it’s a full circle moment for Miley Cyrus. During the debut on March 24, there will be reunions, the return of the infamous sets and never seen footage of the show.
“Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” said Cyrus in an interview from msn.com.
This twentieth anniversary celebrates the success of Hannah Montana while showing Miley Cyrus’s evolution as a singer. The shows legacy lives on today, inspiring new generations to follow their hearts.
