The daily school routine often makes people forget that there is more to students than meets the eye.
Here at Eagle High, students tend to get so wrapped up in things such as sports, drama and schoolwork that they often forget the many things that make each one of them special, including sophomore Jenna Huish.
“My hidden talent is that I can speak two languages. English and Spanish,” said Huish.
While already taking college level classes, Huish finds time and makes an effort to learn Spanish. She believes that knowing another language is important and can be beneficial to everyone if they take even just a few minutes out of their day to learn.
“I have been learning Spanish since I was in kindergarten, so ten plus years,” said Huish.
Since she was four years old, Huish knew she was passionate about learning and wanted to be able to communicate with many different people, so as a result she started practicing Spanish more and more.
“My mom wanted me to learn Spanish because she thinks it’s a really valuable skill,”
said Huish. “Then, I wanted to because I think it is a really cool skill because how many people do you know that can speak two languages, you know.”
She also has learned to love this language because of the personal history she and her family share with it. She has been taking Spanish classes and is almost completely fluent.
“My parents did just high school Spanish, but my grandma grew up in Mexico, and speaks fluent Spanish,” said Huish.
Huish has put over ten years into learning another language and is a talent that not many know about her.
