It’s that time of year again when students are having to make one of the biggest decisions of their life – where to go to college. For many seniors, committing to a college is not only about academics, but about where they will live, the career they will choose and the relationships they will make along the way.
For senior McKenna Nichols, there were multiple different factors that led her to choose Grand Canyon University.
“GCU is a private Christian college, and I knew that I wanted to incorporate my religion into my college experience,” Nichols said. Nichols plans to complete a double major at Grand Canyon University in elementary education and special education, as well as Christian studies.
While some students like Nichols will be going out of state for secondary education, others like senior Aspen Guldin will be staying in Idaho to complete her education after high school.
“My major will be in Kinesiology because my goal is to become a physical therapist after my college education,” Guldin said. Guldin will be attending Boise State University next fall and is eager to start.
Guldin explained that she loves the atmosphere and feel of Boise State.
“The school spirit at BSU football games is very fun, and I love that you can be involved in outdoor activities,” Guldin said.
Guldin hopes to participate in the Running Club in college and has a goal of completing a half marathon while there.
With the school year already a quarter of the way through, seniors who wish to attend college will have to make a decision on where they plan to go sooner rather than later. College counselor Anna Bemis in the career center is a great resource for seniors needing help with scholarship information, college tours or just someone to talk to, to help make a decision. An exciting new chapter in life is waiting for Eagle High seniors.
