Critics regard “Avatar: The Way of The Water” and “Batman” as some of the best films of 2022.

So many great movies have come out this year, many having some amazing actors. These movies are on track to become the greatest movies of all time and win many Oscars at this year’s Academy Awards.

1. “The Batman” (HBO Max)

“The Batman” was easily the best movie of 2022. This movie had a limited budget, but the producers made it seem like they spent billions of dollars on it. “The Batman” takes place in a crime-ridden city where the Batman faces the Riddler, who leaves clues on who he is and ways to figure out what crimes he will commit.

“ ‘The Batman’ was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen and has easily become a favorite for me and my friends to watch,” said sophomore Treyson Anderson.

2. “All Quiet on the Western Front” (Netflix)

“All Quiet on the Western Front” is a historical movie that takes place during World War I. The film follows a young German soldier who goes through the stress and mental worries of the war. It might be a hard movie for some to watch because much of the film is spoken in German, but the movie was definitely worth the watch.

3. “Avatar: The Way of Water” (currently in theaters and later on Disney Plus)

“Avatar: The Way of Water” has very high expectations because of how much money the first one produced, being the highest-grossing movie of all time. Director James Cameron has taken 13 years to make this sequel, and they started making it almost two years after the first one. The first “Avatar” was such a massive change in cinema history, considering they used motion-capture for the entire movie.
“‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ will be a favorite movie for me because I loved the first one so much,” said sophomore Chance Jones.

4. “The Northman” (Amazon Prime)

“The Northman” is a movie about a young viking prince that goes on a hunt to find and get revenge on his father’s murderer. Star actors Alexander Skarsgård and Nicole Kidman have shown some of the best performances of the year and have a great chance to win some awards in this year’s Oscars.

5. “Hustle” (Netflix)

“Hustle” was one of the greatest sports movies of the year, even being one of the best sports movies to have come out in a few years. “Hustle” follows a foreign basketball player Bo Cruz played by NBA player Juancho Hernangomez. Cruz gets trained by an NBA scout Stanley Sugarman played by actor and comedian, Adam Sandler. The goal is for Cruz to make it to the NBA and help Sugarman get his scouting job back.

“Hustle is one of my favorite sports movies and it really just inspires me to do active things like going to the gym,” said sophomore Trevor Kadlec.
