As the lights are shining down on the football field, the cheer team is the source of school spirit, rallying up the crowd with cheers and stunts.
The cheer season at Eagle High lasts from June to March which means that there is no time to rest for these girls. Practicing two and a half hours, five days a week during the summer helps prepare the team for the football season. They learn a series of cheers to perform at halftime and advanced stunts to keep the crowd entertained.
The Eagle High cheer team does so much for the school.
“I want to get us more involved in the school and help connect the student body more,” said senior Ava Ruoff.
The cheer team volunteers in the community, conducts fundraisers for their program and performs in assemblies, all of which can be a lot for the girls to juggle.
“I have a lot of experience now from being on the team for four years, with good time management, going to bed on time and doing homework directly after school rather than waiting till after practice,” said senior Kennedy Hilde on how she stays on top of grades, with the pressure of being on the cheer team. The cheer team practices seven days a week during the school year, which can get very overwhelming.
The cheerleaders put in so much unseen effort to make sporting events full of school spirit and fun. The team helps unite the school as one, creating memories that Eagle High can carry even after the football season. Their upcoming competition season will bring even more excitement.
