As of late August 2025, the Eagle Rocky Hockey team, otherwise known as Horse Bear Hockey, has been continuously practicing and competing against the other teams in the valley. Even though they are two separate schools, the players are united on the ice.

Senior Enzo Sternberger is a player on the Eagle Rocky team and is a student at Eagle High.

“I’ve been playing hockey since I was five, so 13 years now. Starting hockey at a young age is good depending if you want to play in juniors or in college,” he said.

For high school varsity hockey teams, ages can range from 13 to 18 years. Many of the players on the Eagle Rocky team range from 16 to 18 years old.

No matter the age, each player on the team puts in hard work and dedication, and it shows. As of Dec. 8, 2025, Horse Bear Hockey has been doing extraordinarily well with only losing one game against the Boise High hockey team.

“The most memorable part of this season so far would be our win against Mountain View,” Sternberger said. The players of Mountain View High held a close game against Horse Bear Hockey with the ending score of six to five.

To maintain their successful winning streak, each player must continue to provide grit and dedication both on and off the ice. High school hockey teams only practice once a week with games twice a week and tournaments every month.

But practice isn’t the only time when the team is together; many players practice at home in their own free time. Whether it’s on fake ice, real ice or in the gym, hockey athletes are constantly working on improving their skills.

Overall, Horse Bear Hocky is, and will, continue to make the communities of Eagle High and Rocky Mountain High proud with their hard work and hopefully continuous winning streak. The team will always be praised for setting aside their school’s differences and having such chemistry on the rink.
