21 Savage Makes a Jump To Number one With His “Album American Dream”

London-born Atlanta rapper 21 Savage has the new number one album of 2024 with the release of “American Dream,” following holdovers by Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen.

“American Dream” is 21 Savage’s fourth number one album and chart topper, and his first album to lead Billboard as a solo artist since his release of “I AM > I Was” in 2019.

According to The New York Times, “American Dream” is 21 Savage’s first album since the resolution of his ongoing problems with his immigration status. In the first week, the long-awaited album gathered in nearly 170 million plays and 133,000 sales in the United States.”

Mixed opinions were circulating upon the release of the album since it was a solo album.

“I think 21 Savage’s album was average and he didn’t perform as well as he could. He is still an awesome rapper and plays a big part in the rap community,” said sophomore Chase Chamberlin.

21 Savage showed why he is so loved in the rap community in “American Dream.” 21 Savage brought wit and versatility to “American Dream,” bringing his best skills to this album. His caustic sense of humor and deadpan delivery are easily seen throughout his lyrics and presentation of his music. His no-nonsense approach to rapping brings a unique flow to his rap game drawing in big audiences. Songs like “Redrum” and “Brudda” are good examples of this no-nonsense style using real lyrics adding meaning and feelings to his lyrics.

“21 Savage brings good beats and energy to his music making him a good choice for any pregame and workout playlist,” sophomore Kristian Fusco said.

According to New York Times, “21 Savage is an artist that racks up 61 million monthly listeners on Spotify.”

21 Savage can be spotted in most student playlists, potentially even teachers and staff.

With his unique style and energy, there is little doubt that 21 Savage will ever lose his mass following. His newly released album “American Dream” is sure to only help him out.
