In Idaho, there are many ski resorts to choose from. For Eagle High students, the most common resorts are Bogus Basin, Tamarack and Brundage. The big question is, which one is the best?
With Bogus Basin in Boise, Idaho being the closest to Eagle, Idaho, senior Matthew Hergenreder said this plays a major role in why he thinks this ski resort is his favorite.
“It’s very affordable and with it being only a 45-minute drive, it’s very convenient to get there and go for a whole day,” Hergenreder said. “I’m also able go up there after school with my release periods and still get home at a decent time.”

Bogus Basin is a nonprofit organization that has 90 plus runs, covering nearly 2,600 acres of land. While it certainly isn’t the biggest local ski resort and may not get the best snow, many prefer it because it is so close to Eagle.
Tamarack ski resort is located in Donnelly, Idaho and is another great option for Eagle High students to ski or snowboard at.
Senior Jet Jansen has been going to the ski resort for three years now and thinks this is the best option for Eagle High students.
“The people who work there, as well as ski and snowboard there, always bring good vibes to the mountain, and it always makes the experience very enjoyable,” Jansen said. Though Jansen loves the skiing and snowboarding community at Tamarack, he wishes they built bigger jumps and had more ramps at the terrain parks.
Finally, Brundage Ski Resort, located in McCall, Idaho, is an extremely popular place for students to visit. Many say that they have the best “powder days”. Junior Lily Guldin would agree.
“Brundage is beautiful and has a great variety of blue runs to choose from for people of all skill level,” Guldin said. “However, if the prices were more affordable, I think they could attract more people, especially highschoolers.”
With so many resort options to choose from, it can be difficult to pick a favorite. However, Bogus Basin, Brundage and Tamarack all have differences that make each of them a good option.
