English teacher Shelli Taylor plays an important role at Eagle High, supporting and inspiring students. Her dedication for teaching shines through her sympathetic self.
“I love teaching at Eagle High and coming here every day,” Taylor said.
Taylor went to Boise State University and got her bachelor’s degree in English Secondary Education.
She started teaching english in 1997. She has taught at Eagle High since the beginning of her career.
She also taught summer school at Boise High and Meridian High for another job outside of the in-school season. She said she enjoys teaching very much and loves all her students, which is why she taught at summer school too.
“I love English and I love the students,” Taylor said. “I remember what it was like to be a student, and it was nice to be able to talk to my teachers and know they cared.”
Taylor said she loves to communicate with her students and learn what they all enjoy in life.
“I like knowing I can make a difference in my students’ lives,” Taylor said.
Another thing Taylor loves is wiener dogs. She said she likes them because they are small and have an attitude, like she does. She has them plastered all over her classroom. Her room has a very warm environment that invokes a feeling of comfort when students walk in.
Students describe Taylor as a safe person they can go to about anything. This is something very important for both a teacher and a student.
“I love talking to Shelli about school and life and I feel very comfortable around her,” said senior Payten Wolf.
Taylor is one of the most liked teachers at Eagle High, and it really shows because of the way she portrays herself.
