Winter is the perfect season to get comfy and read a good book. Laying down with hot chocolate and a winter book is the perfect combination.

There are many winter books to get lost in and enjoy. There are also many popular winter books that schools use for classes and put in the library during holiday times.

The “Night Before Christmas” is a very popular book/poem that goes through many generations and continues its popular legacy as time moves. It is written by Clement Clarke Moore.

“I first read ‘The Night Before Christmas’ when I was very little and I still remember what happens,” said sophomore Winston Larsen.

Another popular winter book is the classic “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. This book is about generosity and redemption. This book is about a man who hates Christmas, but then later is visited by three spirits. He realizes selfishness and starts to love Christmas.

“I’ve read ‘A Christmas Carol’ before while I was younger and I really liked it,” said senior Maddie Vallez.

The staff around Eagle High share their favorite winter books as well.

“My favorite winter book is ‘The Bronze Horseman’ and I really enjoy reading it,” said principal Susan McInerney. “The Bronze Horseman” is a very romantic book. It has a plot of love, tragedy and grief. This book is about a man and a woman trying to survive life in World War II.

“Another one of my favorite winter books are ‘Dr. Zhivago’ and it is a very beautiful story,” McInerney said.

“Dr. Zhivago” by Boris Pasternak is a unique book about a doctor’s love for two woman that is changed from the Russian Revolution.

The Eagle High library has set up their winter book display, and the selection does not disappoint. Books such as “Skipping Christmas”, “Mint to Be” and “The Christmas Blessing”, students can choose to read various genres. (Auggie Marx)

There are many winter books to be found and read during these holidays. Different plots, genres and stories open so many opportunities for people to read a good winter book.
