Christmas is arguably one of the best times of the year. This magical time comes from the snow on the ground, lights around the city and Christmas music being played. But truly one of the best feelings is cozying up on the couch with hot chocolate, a warm fire and watching a classic Christmas movie.

After taking a poll of students at Eagle High, one of the most loved Christmas movies is “Elf”. With author David Berenbaum and director Jon Favreau this is a one-of-a-kind movie. With ongoing quotable scenes, it’s easy to laugh throughout the whole film. It’s a must watch in the month of December. The famous actor, Will Ferrel, plays Buddy the Elf and brings out his comedic charm to better tell the story.

“The best Christmas movie of all time is “Elf”. This is the funniest movie because buddy the elf is so funny. It is such a clever plot that gives off the best Christmas vibes,” said junior Jack Gochner.

Other classics are “Home Alone”, “Polar Express” and “A Christmas Story”. “Home Alone” specifically has an iconic plot line. This movie takes place in Chicago where an eight-year-old boy named Kevin is left home alone over Christmas and uses his mischievous ways to keep his house from being robbed by “The Wet Bandits.” “Home Alone: Lost in New York”, the second film, is similar with Kevin being stranded in New York, and he must stop the same bad guys from stealing from a toy store. Both part one and part two have great comedy and are easy to binge on Netflix, Disney Plus or Prime Video.

“’White Christmas’ is the best Christmas movie because it’s a musical full of funny scenes and romance,” said sophomore Clara Paventy. “It just has a little of everything.”

“White Christmas”, starring famous actors Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney, is another that will never get old. For a movie that came out almost 70 years ago it is still one of the best and is still frequently watched.

Eagle High students have found many of these movies enjoyable to watch and with Christmas just around the corner, finding a great movie to sit down and relax to won’t be hard.
