Every winter season, Eagle High and Rocky Mountain High put aside petty differences to take other schools out on the ice. Their team name, as combined high school teams, is Horse Bear Hockey.
The hockey season starts in late August and continues until March of next year. That long season means that the team is going against the same opponents multiple times. Their games are exciting, and players are always ready to give it their all.
Junior Avery Duran is a player for the team from last year. He’s still on the team for this season.
“We only lost one game and we won the rest, so that’s pretty good,” Duran said. Duran also said he is looking forward to hopefully making it to the state championship early next year. There are four local teams, but sometimes they will go out to McCall or Idaho Falls to play teams that aren’t in the valley.
“Games are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, unless it’s a tournament, then it’ll go all weekend,” Duran said.
The team is ready to have a great season and give their all to their favorite sport. Games are still going. Additional info can be found about these games on the Eagle High School website. The team also has their own website where they post scores from recent games and dates for upcoming matches, at www.eliteprospects.com.
Horse Bear Hockey is putting out their all for this current season. They are working hard together to make this season one of the best yet. Wins and losses can be found on the website, currently none are visible as of the writing of this piece.
