The Murdaugh family lives in a small town in the state of South Carolina. Over the past eight years, mysterious deaths occurred around the town of Hampton and all of them involved a member of the Murdaugh family. 

The Murdaugh family is a well known family in South Carolina that owns a law firm. The town they lived in is a kind of town where everyone knows everyone, and the Murdaugh’s were a family of very well-accomplished attorneys.  

On the night of June 7, 2021, mother Maggie Murdaugh and her son 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh, were tragically murdered around 10:00 p.m. The man that was in question was father and husband Alex Murdaugh.  

Alex Murdaugh admitted that he was in the barn during the shooting that occurred that night moments before the tragic shooting took place. All the evidence pointed to the fact that Alex Murdaugh committed the murders. Phone calls, text messages and videos all revealed crucial facts that helped point out the fact that he committed these murders. Alex Murdaugh was found guilty of the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, and he was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences without parole. 

Another case appearing right now is Alex Murdaugh and the numerous amounts of financial crimes he and his family have committed. He has been accused of stealing 8.8 million dollars. 

Netflix has made a hit show about the tragic news and the events involving with the Murdaugh family.  

“It was pretty obvious that Alex Murdaugh committed the murders of his wife and his own son,” said sophomore Gabby Gothberg, who watched the docuseries. 

This Netflix show became an instant hit. The show is only three episodes and makes the viewer truly question on who committed all these terrible crimes happening in this small town of South Carolina.  

“All the murders happening with this family are kind of a coincidence because of how they all get swept under the rug because of their family name,” said junior Molly Johnson, who also watched the Netflix special. 

Alex Murdaugh was convicted of the murder of his wife and son, but there are still questions surrounding the money he has embezzled and what Alex Murdaugh did with all the money.
