Teacher Alex Wright has been teaching here at Eagle High for four years in hopes of creating a positive impact on his students. After being inspired by his high school math teacher, Mr. Harp, he knew being a math teacher was what he wanted to do.
Wright doesn’t have a strict name policy and is okay with being called any variation of his name: Mr. Wright, Alex or even just Wright. After studying at Boise State University, Wright chose to teach at Eagle High. He teaches Sports Stats, College Stats and AP Calc BC, although he does have certain classes he thinks are the most fun.
“I love to teach any kind of math, but I love teaching my senior classes this year and loved teaching math one in the past,” said Wright.
One of the reasons Wright enjoys teaching is the encouraging relationships with students. These relationships make it possible for him to motivate students to do their best work.

“I hope to have a lasting impact by making my students feel supported, safe and ready to achieve all the success they want in life after high school,” Wright said. He achieves this by relating to students and checking in on them occasionally. He has no issue with helping students with their work and even encourages them to ask questions. He believes that the more questions students ask, the better their understanding of the topic can become.
Many people forget that teachers live outside of school. Not only does Wright teach here at Eagle High, but he is also a leader for a youth group called Anchor at Rock Harbor Church.
Along with spending time serving his church, he likes to spend time with his family. His hobbies include cooking, hiking and watching sports.
“My favorite sport to play is basketball and my favorite sport to watch is football,” Wright said. He mentioned these are his favorites, however, he enjoys to watch any sport.
Just as Wright was inspired by his math teacher, he hopes to be inspiring to his students.
