At Eagle High, students are often busy with sports, classes, clubs and more. But many share one thing in common: that they get to go home their pets at the end of the day. Senior Soleil Tapia has her dog, Poe, to go home to.
“He’s always excited to see me when I come home from school,” said Tapia.
Poe is a Pomeranian and is 8 years old. Tapia got him when she was 8 years old. Their family went to look at a litter of Pomeranians and chose Poe.
Poe is a very energetic dog. He loves to go on walks, play and sit in the sun. He barks a lot, and it eventually led to health issues.

“He is a very picky eater, and only eats soft food,” Tapia said. Poe has a collapsing trachea due to excessive barking. It causes him to cough very often, and every time he barks, his condition gets worse.
Despite his troubles, he still has a lot of fun. He goes on walks around the neighborhood every day. One fun fact about Poe is that he is able to stand on two feet and beg with his front paws, but he was never taught to.
A pet can be a great way for a student to take their mind off school, sports and responsibilities. Overall, having a pet to go home to can always brighten up the day. Many Eagle High students have pets, such as dogs, cats and fish that they can look forward to seeing, and Poe is no exception.
