As the 2025-2026 college football season continues, great matchups and nail-biting games arise.
As usual, teams like Ohio State, Georgia, Texas and Oregon are in the top 25 rankings and if statistics as expected, this would continue. On another note, week five has brought some of the best games of the season. Games like Oregon versus Penn State, LSU versus Ole Miss and Alabama versus Georgia are just a few examples of some great games that took place.
According to ESPN, Oregon Ducks star wide receiver Dakorian Moore has been a top performer of the week and will continue to be throughout the Duck’s season.
“The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Moore led Oregon in receptions [7] and yards [89] in Saturday night’s OT win and leads Oregon in receiving through five games,” ESPN said. Don’t be surprised if this is just the beginning of his ascension this season, even as the Ducks’ Big Ten schedule gets tougher.”
However, Oregon isn’t the only team performing well this year. In fact, their rival Ohio State is playing just as well. With some of their biggest wins being against Texas and Washington, the Buckeyes are on path to perform great this year.
Like Oregon, the Buckeyes have a star wide receiver as well. Sophomore Jerimiah Smith has put on an outstanding performance this season. In his game against the Ohio Bobcats, Smith had a total of nine receptions, 153 yards and one touchdown. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day also picked up Smith’s younger brother, Angelo Smith.
“The younger Smith is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound junior at Florida’s Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School,” ESPN said. In addition to Ohio State, he held offers from Miami, Oklahoma State, Georgia State and Toledo. News of Smith’s pledge was first reported by Rivals.com.”
Although these teams and their players performances may be expected, this season has brought some surprises as well. Texas, a top performing team of last season has not been doing as well as many may have expected. Sophomore Arch Manning, the team’s starting quarterback, has not been living up to the hopes many had for him coming into the season, especially in the Longhorns game against Ohio State.
According to ESPN, Manning struggled in his first road game as the starting quarterback. Manning also didn’t play as well his first start against a ranked team, going 17-of-30 for 170 yards with a touchdown and an interception against the Buckeyes in Columbus.
With many great games played and many to come, the 2025-2026 college football season has been and is planned to be full of entertainment and unexpected results, especially since this year has been a breakthrough season for some players. But only time will tell what is to happen as the season continues.
