As Eagle High is in the middle of fall sports, it is necessary that the Eagle Highs girls’ rugby team gets the spotlight and a preview for their two most important games of the season, Districts and State.
In past years, the team has won nationals, were runner up in State, had won State and were undefeated for 15 seasons straight.
As the team gets ready for their big games, the key thing to look at is their preparation. The girls have been hard at work for months putting in lots of hard work. Their practice schedule is tough practicing four days a week for several hours. Their practices vary and change daily but something that always stays the same is hard work.
Another great thing is their standards. The Lady Mustangs hold very high standards for the team, and sophomore Gemma Lebeau was focusing on their standards.
“The standard is to be better than the day you were before because the work you put in is more important than talent,” Lebeau said.
Another key thing to look into is the team’s chemistry. Over the past few years, a very common notice for the team has been how well they get along and how well they work together. One of the team’s mottos is one heart and one family. Team chemistry is so important and crucial for a team to perform well, and senior Tommy Stone talked more about it.
“It’s really great. We have two main captains who keep people involved in the team and motivated,” Stone said.
This Eagle High Rugby team is ready to compete and ready to win. They’ve prepped and trained, they have great team spirit, great mindsets, and they are ready to fight. The district games are on Oct 8th and 11th, and the state games will be on Oct 15th and Oct 18th, and one can bet they’ll be ready for them.
