Eagle High 2025 homecoming royalty is announced at the first assembly of the year

On the week of September 20th, Eagle High celebrated its annual homecoming. On top of spirit week, the football game and the homecoming dance, students voted for their 2025 homecoming court. Every year the court includes one prince and one princess for every grade level and an additional homecoming king and queen for the senior class. Students are suggested through teacher nominations. Those nominations then run through student government where the top students in every class are put on a form and sent out to the school for students to vote for their peers.  Homecoming royalty rides on the back of classic and luxury cars during the football game at halftime. They are given a crown, a sash and a night to remember.

In addition to being nominated, very student recognized their favorite teacher. Teachers along with students are awarded at the assembly.

“They had us fill out a couple forms about us and then about our three most influential teachers,” said junior Nathan Priegel. Priegel was nominated as the junior homecoming prince.

“The teacher I did was Shelli Taylor Because she’s really nice and understanding no matter what the situation is and she is always nice to you,” Priegel said. Priegel recognized Taylor at the homecoming assembly to show his appreciation for her and her accepting class atmosphere.

“I try to make connections with all my teachers, and I consider some of my teachers to be my greatest friends. I think that’s helped me better myself as an individual,” said junior homecoming princess Evelyne Whiting.

“It really helps show how much of an impact they have had on you it shows all the staff that smiling and being kind to your students does count and it really does have an impact on our lives,” Whiting said. She is also involved in the girls’ lacrosse team along with clubs such as Sources of Strength and Just Serve. Her Teacher Nomination was science teacher Natham Vital because he is always there to help and his class focuses on making science fun and understandable.

Being well known among the student body betters a student’s chances of being nominated. Embracing the school environment and all it has to offer is a great way to get involved.

Senior princess Audrey Baxter plays for the girls’ varsity basketball team and is involved in clubs like Just Serve, Sources of Strength and is a member of the 2025 Stang Gang.

“It’s an awesome experience not only connecting with teachers but being friends with everyone around the school,” Baxter says, “just smile at people in the halls and people will see that smile and it will make their day, and then you’ll be known as a nice person” Baxter said.

Student involvement and leadership among peers makes all the difference when it comes to nominations.

“Do your classwork, go to class, be on time, be nice to your teachers and honestly just be a model student,” Baxter said.

The annual tradition of homecoming royalty at Eagle High recognizes students for their involvement and hard work within the school. Teachers are recognized for their efforts and get to see the difference they can make in real time. It’s a great way to boost morale within the school and reach students from all ends of the school.
