In Idaho, summer was an opportunity to relax and recharge for students at Eagle High. The season is a time where students enjoy more free time to pursue exciting adventures and spend time with their friends.
Water sports in Idaho are popular mainly due to the lake attractions within the state.
According to Hagadone Marine Group, “Payette Lake, Lake Cour D’elane, Priest Lake and Redfish Lake are some of the top boating destinations in Idaho,”
For students, boating is great for the varied activities a person can do on the water.
“I go boating with my friends. We like to use our inner tube or try to wake board on our boat,” said sophomore Isaac Wilding.
Another water-related activity is going to the lake in Mcall to go fishing, tanning or swimming.
“I like to go to Mcall with my family and hang out on the beach,” said junior Vienna Perry.
Being outdoors on Idaho’s lakes is common amongst high school students during summer due to the high temperatures. However, on cooler days, Bruneau Dunes State Park is excellent for taking cute pictures and getting some fresh air.
“We went to the sand dunes during the very beginning of summer, and it was great because it wasn’t super-hot yet,” said senior Mary Richardson.
Alternatively, trying a new hobby to fill empty time is a common activity during the summer months as well.
“I figured I would use some of my time trying to learn how to crochet, but I don’t know if I could really say I’m amazing at it yet,” said senior Megan Baird.
Another way people spent their free time this summer was going to local events. While the Boise Farmer’s Market is generally popular, the Boise Flea Market did well this year too.
According to IdahoNews6, “The Boise Flea Market just continues to grow each year despite the high temperatures.”
“I went to the Boise Flea one time this summer and was hoping to come back another week because I hardly had enough time to look at all the stalls,” said sophomore Caleb Malan.
For those that were not interested in shopping for vintage clothing, the Boise Farmers Market is highly rated as well for other reasons.
According to Downtownfarmersmarket.com, “There is a bustling culture of good food, music and art to explore,”
Although summer is over, perhaps next summer students can look forwards to trying a new activity that will fill up their free time. There are plenty of ideas to choose from around Idaho, from boating, spending time near the water, finding a new hobby or visiting local events.
