Here at Eagle High, students take pride in their fashion choices. Teachers, however, have their own thoughts. Teachers have given their opinions on students’ style, from hair to clothes to shoes. Some teachers like the styles, others, not so much.
Teacher Krista Rogerson loves seeing the late 80s, early 90s styles coming back. Rogerson also likes how popular thrifting is now. She likes the fact that it is an activity that students enjoy especially because she, “loves finding old clothes and wearing them again.” Overall, Rogerson enjoys seeing the students express themselves through their own personal styles.
Teacher Shelli Taylor also enjoys student’s style in general. Taylor said in her 30 years of teaching she has, “definitely noticed big changes.” Unfortunately, she thinks styles have gotten worse. Part of that problem, in her opinion, is what stores have for sale.
“Stores don’t offer enough options,” Taylor said, which results in only the main trends being available.
Teacher Austin Rogerson likes some of the student’s choices and some others he doesn’t. Rogerson thinks huge, wide baggy jeans are, “very interesting.” On the other hand, Rogerson said he loves all the Addidas Sambas because he wore Sambas in high school. He thinks seeing all the different colors of sneakers is cool.

“When I was in high school, we just had black,” Rogerson said talking about his own pair from the past. Rogerson also said that a big change he’s noticed is bleached hair.
“Bleached hair used to be just tips,” Rogerson said. Now he sees full bleached heads and leopard buzzes. He stood by his previous statement, “very interesting.”
Teacher Joseph Gossi also thinks hair choices are interesting. He talked about, “frosted broccoli,” which is fluffy hair with bleached tips. He does not seem fond of that hairstyle trend. Gossi has also noticed that styles from his youth are coming back around.
“What you’re wearing is what I wore in high school,” Gossi said.
Similarly, teacher Jerome McClean is not fond of current style trends. He, “does not understand why less is better.” His thoughts on shoes also aren’t positive.
“Crocs are super ugly, closely followed by Birkenstocks,” McClean said. He also thinks skinny jeans should not exist. However, he might just hate saggy pants even more. Nothing is worse than, “wearing saggy pants with a belt.” McClean made it clear that some current fashion choices are not his favorite.
Overall, teachers do not mind how students dress. But there are definitely some things that each one can’t understand or does not like.
