Coached by teacher Ashley Graham, the Eagle High volleyball team is headed into their new season. Stakes are high with a new, young team, after many starters graduated last year.
“I think our team will be very good because although we have some new people, we all play and communicate together very well at together very well at practice,” said senior Madi Ruport.
Mustang volleyball has a full schedule this year that will stretch into mid-October for regular seasons. However, the girls have high hopes that they will succeed in districts and make it to state to extend their season. Out of all the games the Mustangs are scheduled to play, some games stick out.
“We have lots of games this year and I am most excited to play Rocky and Owyhee, and most of all to play at districts,” said junior Sienna Coyne.
Practices have been in session since the first week of school. The team has been training hard to prepare for the season.
“The culture is very competitive, but it feels like a big family,” Sienna Coyne said.
Coaching is a very important aspect of the success of a team and the coaching at Eagle is very strong according to the players. The strong coaching helps the players to improve and get better every single week.
“The coaching is harsh, but it pushes us to be better” Senior Varsity DS/Libero Ruport said.
The Eagle Mustang volleyball program strives to help their players become their best selfs and players. It may be intense at times, but it is intense in a good way that brings the team together. Another example of how the coaching and culture is so important for the Mustangs.
“This inspires all the girls to push each other to do our bests,” Ruport said.
Districts are very important to Mustang Volleyball because taking a high place will help the team qualify for the state championship.
“I think we will do good throughout the season, and I hope we can qualify for state,” Ruport said.
Overall, the Eagle High volleyball team has very high aspirations and ambitions for their upcoming season. Only time will tell how they do, but with their good coaching, culture and teamwork, the Mustangs are looking great heading into this season.
