The Eagle High boys golf team works hard to prepare for the 2025-2026 season shouldn’t go unrecognized.
Whether the players are returning for another season with the Mustangs or it’s their first time putting on the Kelly-green polo, the five players on the team have been further perfecting their craft during their free time. Junior Jacob Tjosvold said that he’s practiced all summer to get ready.
“I have been practicing a lot on my time off and even playing on courses that I know we will play on during the season,” Tjosvold said.
Like other sports, golf requires a good work ethic in order to succeed. Head coach Joe Gossi has been encouraging that players continue to practice even when the season isn’t in session. Tjosvold said that the reason why he performs the way he does is because of how often he practices.
With many important matches this season like the upcoming state preview at Jug Mountain Ranch golf course on September nineth, the Jack Jones tournament on September second and districts at the end of the season, this work ethic is necessary for players on the team. Tjosvold said that although he practices a lot, the mental aspect of the sport is very important as well.
“Being in a good mental state when stepping on the course is very important to how you perform, whether you’re playing or coaching,” Tjosvold said.
Some people may overlook the mental aspect of sports and only focus on physicality like practicing and lifting, but the Eagle High boys golf team has both the mental and physical toughness to take on the courses this year with confidence.
It’s safe to say that Eagle High golf is ready to take on the green this year with intent to win, build skill and have a great mental posture as to how they will perform this year.
