Starting from the beginning of the school year, the student council co-presidents are making their mark.
The new Associated Student Body presidents (ASB) are seniors Sarah Kemp and Ray Gauthier. They have been hard at work trying to unify the school and make it vibrant and colorful. They meet every A-Day before lunch to discuss what needs to be done and how they will execute that.
“We have all become like a tight knit family,” ASB co-president Gauthier said.
The Student Council works hard to make everyone feel welcome, creating a friendly environment.
At the beginning of the year, the student council won the National Student Council of Excellency award, or NSCE for short. They got recognized by Channel Six and even appeared on television. They are extraordinary at what they do, making ends meet when it comes to assemblies, pep rallies, school dances and more.
“Our ASB historians worked really hard to make it a beautiful and informative presentation,” Gauthier said.
The project was a presentation about what they had done the past year and what they are going to accomplish this year. It included events such as Battle for the Bolt, Trunk or Treat, Make-A-Wish and the homecoming parade.
Many of the Student Council’s events include the community. For example, Trunk or Treat coming up in October invites anyone and everyone to come with their young kids to participate in sharing treats and in games. Involvement in the community is key to the work they do, especially when it comes to fundraising.
The new ASB is changing its ways at Eagle High this year, with many new ideas presented such as the ideas of Wishmas and even a Hoedown!
Wishmas would be much like the old Eagle High assembly called Acts of Love that used to take place in February. Wishmas is the Student Council’s way of bringing Acts of Love back in a more meaningful and loving way.

The idea now is to have students write on paper a wish they have and turn it in. Next, the council will sort through and pick cost efficient, meaningful wishes to grant the students. Then, there will be a winter assembly where the chosen wishes will be presented to the students, it will remain a surprise until that day to make it even more fun.
A few weeks back, Rocky Mountain High reached out to some of the Student Council’s members about partnering to do a new school dance this year. The idea is a hoedown where it is kept casual and it is alike to Sweetheart’s in the way that girls will ask guys to this dance. The attire will be cowboy/cowgirl.
This new leadership is shaking things up with a wave of fresh, new activities to engage more of the student body!
