Every year, Eagle High welcomes new faces to the school. Whether it’s the incoming freshman that are just starting high school or transfer students from different schools and states, Eagle High is excited to spend the 2025-2026 year with these new students.
Many of the new students have joined Eagle High from different states. Senior Curtis Hanson is from Cincinnati, Ohio, where he played club tennis and swam for his high school’s swim team. During the spring season he plans on joining Eagle’s tennis team. He noticed the team spirit Eagle High students have.
“I’d say there’s lots of school spirit here. Like everyone is very connected, people are very proud to go to Eagle,” Hanson said.
Junior Madeleine Kelso also recently moved to Idaho from Texas. She wants to join the Japan Club that is run by teacher Layne Ward. Kelso noticed the changes coming from her old school.
“The schedule feels a lot more laid back, at my old school the lunches were assigned, and you had to stay in the cafeteria, whereas here you can wonder around,” Kelso said. She mentioned how her old school is a lot bigger than Eagle High as well. Overall, Kelso is nervous to start planning for her future outside of high school, but is excited to join new clubs while here.
Senior Carter Stone moved to Idaho recently from California where he went to Amador Valley High School. He remarked on the change coming from a school with outdoor walkways in between classrooms to an all-indoor school. Stone reflects how nerving it was to join a school where everyone knows each other, but he compliments the staff and students for being welcoming.

“I just think that all the teachers and staff here are nicer. Especially other students are all nicer as well,” Stone said.
Other students at Eagle High have just transferred from different schools in Idaho. One of those students is senior Lucas Tryborn, a football player and wrestler who started at Owyhee High and is currently a varsity football player here at Eagle High. His first impression starting this year was the amount of student kindness.
“Everyone here is really nice,” Tryborn said. He also plans on joining Eagle High’s wrestling team later this year.
Senior Sasha Strelyuk didn’t transfer from another school, instead enrolling at Eagle High her senior year after finishing online college. She was surprised by the media programs that are included at the school.
“I would say there’s a lot more media programs than I thought there would be. There’s just a lot of student interaction and they participate a lot more than I expected,” Strelyuk said. She also plans on joining the Eagle High tennis team in the springtime.
Even though these are just a few of the new students we have this year, Eagle High welcomes all new students to the school.
