West Ada School District has been facing major backlash for ordering Lewis and Clark Middle School teacher Sarah Inama to remove posters from her classroom wall, including one stating, “Everyone is welcome here.”
West Ada School District administrators claimed Inama’s poster violated district policy 410.20, which states posters and banners in the classroom must be “content neutral and conducive to a positive learning environment.”
Initially, Inama felt pressured and removed the sign. However, she reconsidered her decision and re-hung the sign, disagreeing with the administration’s orders.

Inama claims the signs are fundamental for ensuring a positive environment and she does not understand why they are deemed controversial.
West Ada Chief Academic Officer Marcus Myers held a meeting with Inama, discussing why the signs violate district policy. Myers told Inama that the political environment fluctuates, and the school must adhere to it.
After the meeting, Inama became increasingly convinced that the administration’s orders were wrong and racist.
Myers reiterated his claims on the issue on “The Ranch Podcast,” stating that the text on the poster is not the issue, rather the hands of differing skin colors also presented on the poster are.
West Ada School District had a legal counsel review of Inama’s position, ultimately stating that she must remove the posters before the end of the school year.
