As the school year is beginning to come to an end and the warmer weather is approaching, many students will spend that free time catching up on their favorite novels.
One of the most well-known young adult authors who wrote the dystopian series “Shatter Me”, Taheri Mafi is starting a new series called “The New Republic” that is coming out on April 15 with the first book “Watch Me”. The series begins ten years after the end of “Shatter Me” and follows James Anderson, the younger and lesser-known brother of Aaron Warner Anderson from the previous books. Now, James and a trained assassin, Rosabelle Wolff, are forced to work together, while they slowly turn from enemies to lovers.
“I really enjoyed the ‘Shatter Me’ series, so I’m looking forward to the start of her new one,” said sophomore Tatiana Fuchs.
Another highly anticipated release is “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry who wrote many loved summer books like “People We Met on Vacation” and “Happy Place”. Her new book begins with two writers, Alice Scott and Hayden Anderson both of whom are planning to write a biography on the same woman that hasn’t been heard from in years. The woman, Margret Ives, is the daughter of the most famous and scandalous families in the world.
However, she gives both Alice and Hayden a trial period and following she will choose who gets to write and publish her biography. The problem is, Margret is giving both writers parts of her stories that they can’t put together due to the non-disclosure agreement they signed. Now, the competition between the two is beginning to push them together rather than pull them apart. But the book could be an incredible opportunity for one of them. The problem is whether they want to sacrifice their growing relationship for their career or ruin their names in the hope of them growing into something more.
“I always look forward to the summer since that’s when Emily Henry tends to release her new books,” said junior Noelle Woolner.
For those interested in a new mysteries or thrillers, author Frida McFadden who wrote “The Housemaid” and “Never Lie”, is putting out a new novel, “The Crash”. The story follows an eight-month pregnant woman, Tegan who plans to visit her brother but after getting stranded in a rural area of Main with a dead car and broken ankle, she begins to think she made a terrible mistake. But, after being recused by a couple who offers her a stay at their cabin, Tegan thinks that things are starting to look up. That’s until the couple starts to act stranger, and now, she must do whatever she can to keep herself and her baby safe. The story has plot twists and turns that many are excited to read about.
Readers across Eagle High are excited to read some of their favorite authors’ news releases as the workload begins to slow down and free time is in their hands.
